The Lakes Region Food Network received a grant from the New England Grassroots Environment Fund to support a monthly food demonstration at the Thursday Laconia Main Street Outdoor Market. The demonstrations will be the second week of each month, and local chefs will feature products that are available in the market that month. Food samples, recipes, and other resources will be available at the Savor the Season booth, located on the north side of the market next to the Full Basket Co-op. Chefs will be available from 3:30-4:30 and will be happy to answer your food-related questions.
The goals of this project are to encourage people to try new foods, especially veggies, and help them learn how to prepare foods that might be unfamiliar to them. We also hope it will lead to increased sales for the farmers in the market. We are very pleased to have Kevin Halligan from Laconia Local Eatery/ Laconia Village Bakery in June, Ana Gourlay from Sunflower Natural Foods in July, Leslie Judice from Tavern 27 in August, and Brenda Carey from UNH Cooperative Extension in September.
We hope you’ll stop by at the booth and say Hi! to our local celebrity chefs, and take advantage of this great opportunity. Recipes and resource information will be available on the off weeks at the booth, courtesy of the Lakes Region Food Network. In the case of windy, inclement weather the booth will not be set up.
